Centrifugal casting is a process used to make cylinder liners with several advantages, including:
The centrifugal casting process produces a consistent, close-grained microstructure.
Improved corrosion resistanceAdding chromium to the metal improves corrosion resistance.
Finer GrainThe casting process results in a finer grain that's free from porosity and blow holes.
Impurities RemovedThe centrifugal casting process forces impurities to the bore surface, where they can be removed by machining.
Cost-effectivenessCentrifugal casting is a cost-effective way to produce cylinder liners. This is because the process requires less material, energy, and time than other casting processes. As a result, centrifugal casting is an ideal process for the mass production of cylinder liners.
Prarthana has acquired high precision machineries such as plateau honing machine of Nagel during the period of 2007, to achieve Euro norms such are Rmax - 14 um, Rz - 3-8 um, Rpk - 0.4 um max, Rk - 0.3-1.5 um, Rvk - 1-3 um, Mr1 - 10% max, Mr2 - 70-80%, Ra - 0.6 um max. This Plateau honed liners are supplied to Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited, Pune and other US and UK customers.
